HBETA MINUTES 14/5/09
1) New HBETA roles.
· Appointment of chair: Helen Almey graciously resigned (thankyou for your service) and Emma Sharland was nominated and appointed.
· Appointment of treasurer: John Bird nominated and appointed.
· Secretary: Rebecca Lagas and Amy Price nominated and appointed.
2) J. Bird’s financial statement 2009.
· Imp of RSVP for hosting and funding.
· $15 surcharge for debating, leave as is.
· Subscription in deficit (debate whether to keep at $125 or raise to $130). Review next year.
· Poetry: Overcatering at Iona due to lack of replies- please remember to RSVP. Look into sponsors for prizes and possibility of getting Russell McVeigh adjudicator for debating.
· Vote to accept financial statement accepted.
3) Jo Morris NZATE rep.
· Cambridge conference 1st Wed, Th, Fri; think about offering a workshop.
4) New Matrix.
· Consultation/debate ongoing regarding standards, new ones arriving soon.
· MUST REVIEW new standards carefully as are controversial. Check Eng Online for debate esp. regards Wide Reading.
5) Debating.
· If you run LTD prep day, check topic with Jo Morris.
· Too many Yr 10 teams, so Karamu will host HNHS, Iona, H.G, CHB on the original day scheduled.
6) Venues for 2009 Meetings
· Term 3 Woodford House (Matt).
· Term 4 Hastings Girls (JohnMackenzie).
